Helix - 14/04/2020

AUTOCAD

In this class we learn how to do helixes.

We started out by drawing a simple HELIX and a BOX that would contain it.

To give thickness to helix, we draw a CIRCLE, use 3DROTATE, and then EXTRUDE the circle, using the PATH method, and choose the helix. We hide the box for now.

To see the final form we use SHADE.

Then we show the box again, and the helix will be inside of it.

By using SUBTRACT, and choosing to remove the helix made, it will create empty spaces.

We can also use a different thicnkess.

Using the same method, but instead of using a circle, use a square, we can obtain a form, that remainds us of an acess to a parking lot.

And again, we can use a different thickness.

After this, we draw an helix, to produce a surface similiar to Guggenheim Museum.

Since the walls aren't in a circular or a quadrangular way, we had to find the join the extremes of the helix, to discover, the inclination of them.

After we used 3DROTATE, so that we could use the line drawn before, and draw the shape of the wall with thickness already.

Then we rotated the shape that we did, and EXTRUDE it, by using PATH, and follow the helix. Giving us the final form.
